Cost Management Week: Principles

It's often said that we have to choose two - between fast, cheap, and good. With a well designed architecture, it is possible to have all three.

Let's start by looking at some of the principles behind cost management.
  • Requirements - Architectures should be aligned to business need. This sounds simple, but there is often a disconnect which can lead to cost inefficiency
  • Efficiency - One of the leading causes of waste is overprovisioning.
  • Pruning - ensure that resources deployed are still in use
  • Legacy - while a 'lift and shift' is often quick, it doesn't use the advnatages of Cloud Native services like PaaS to reduce total cost

Over this week we will go deeper into these principles, and give you more actionable guidance on how to build a cost effective, Cloud Ready architecture.
